Our Mission Statement
We, the Association of Hmong Students (AHS), provide a foundation of opportunities to assist students within and beyond UCLA. Through the advocacy of a higher education, analysis of intersectionalities, and the holistic development of student leaders, AHS cultivates a safe environment to empower students and nurture their Hmong identity. AHS upholds the voice of Hmong students by advocating for the cultural, educational, and social welfare of the Hmong community.

About Us
The Association of Hmong Students (AHS) was established at UCLA in 1996, originally serving as a support network for four Hmong students. Since its founding, AHS has grown into a dynamic organization dedicated to advocacy, cultural preservation, and community engagement. The organization played a key role in the development and launch of UCLA’s first Hmong course, marking a significant milestone in academic representation. Over the years, AHS has hosted cultural shows and exhibitions to raise awareness about Hmong history and identity within the UCLA campus and beyond. Additionally, the organization has organized high school conferences, advocacy events, and has actively collaborated with Hmong organizations across California to further its mission and impact.
